I have written on this topic several times before, but I feel the need to address it again; so that those who can most identify with these comments will find words of hope and comfort in them. Let’s begin by facing an important fact. The last 30-40 years have not been kind to communities in rural Canada. Towns and villages that, at one time, were bustling centers of economic activity have been reduced to little more than bedroom communities.

Local author ready for book launch

One of western Manitoba’s most intriguing new authors is showcasing her debut work of fiction in Neepawa. On Wednesday, Apr. 18., the Neepawa Public Library will serve as host for the formal book launch of LenoraBuffi’s new novel, Vista.

I love rum and raisin ice cream so when I came across this rum and raisin bread pudding I had to try it. It’s a twist on an old fashioned comfort food. The recipe is on the smaller side so if you have a large group to feed, just double it. It called for bread in the recipe but I used 3 whole wheat buns and that worked well.
