In a battle for the basement, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines proved to be the best of the worst on Wednesday, Dec. 16, trouncing the Neepawa Natives 5-1 at the Yellowhead Centre.

Settlement Services changing with the times

Neepawa and Area Immigration and Settlement Services Manager, Don Walmsley was the guest speaker at the Dec. 11 Neepawa Rotary Club meeting. Walmsley gave a brief outline of the early days (2006), when an area welcoming committee pre-dated government support for immigration settlement around Neepawa. It was a local community driven initiative, with an emphasis on helping families obtain clothing, bedding and household items to start their life in Canada.

Rivers area daycare becoming a reality

Riverdale Community Daycare Board President

The Riverdale Community Daycare Board was formed early 2013. Members of this board have worked diligently to pursue the opening of a 32-space daycare within Rivers. Initially we discussed and evaluated the various options and spaces available for a daycare facility. We completed a needs survey to more fully understand the urgency of this facility. Currently, Riverdale Municipality has a population of 2,057 and is only able to offer 24 private daycare spots.

The new emus at the Neepawa Bird Sanctuary have been officially named “Jake” and “Jill”. The Leisure Services Department for the Town of Neepawa and Jake Birch, the founder of the bird sanctuary, wanted to include the community in deciding the names for the two birds.
