Winter walking program returns to Rivers

We all know the beautiful fall weather we have been enjoying is not going to last forever.  Sooner or later, Old Man Winter will return and many of us will be tempted to stay indoors as much as possible until spring. Our daily walks become a bit of a bother, but we still need to stay active.

Oak River Co-op celebrates silver anniversary

Co-operatives celebrate their unique business model by hosting Co-op Week in mid-October of each year. The village of Oak River, with a population of 125, boasts two co-operatives: Vanguard Credit Union and Kenton/Oak River Co-op. These businesses worked together to provide a free luncheon to their customers on Wednesday, Oct. 14. Barbecued pork on a bun, pickles and cheese were served to nearly 100 people who attended the party at OakDale Senior Home. Dessert was a decorated cake, made to recognize the 25th year of operation of Oak River Co-op.

RM of Oakview Oct. 13:

The Building Committee has met with two contractors at the municipal shed in Oak River; a quote is to be received to repair the north wall. The new town foreman for Rapid City (Dennis Sinclair)started on Oct. 9. Recyclables have been removed from Rapid City and Oak River depots.
