When you look at the recent results for the Neepawa Natives, it makes you wonder if the team should consider playing more of their home games away from home.

Candidates questioned at Rapid City debate

Rapid City and District Chamber of Commerce hosted a federal candidates meeting last Wednesday which also drew voters from Oak River, Cardale, Minnedosa and Neepawa. Chairs were set in the Legion hall and more were added as people flocked in to become better informed before marking their ballot on Monday, Oct. 19. Each of the five candidates was given two minutes for opening remarks and one minute to answer questions. Moderator Vern May of Minnedosa & Area Community Development Corporation rang the bell many times to indicate they had exceeded their time limit.

On Oct. 2, federal Conservative candidate Robert Sopuck spoke to the Neepawa Rotary Club. During the election, the club has tried to have each of the candidates speak about their personal lives and experiences. Sopuck talked about his work as a biologist, his family and his love of nature and rural living.

Last week’s column covered the east side of Mountain Avenue from the salt plant past Hamilton to Ferris Jewellery, plus I covered the loop around Davidson Street which took in Alguires, the milk plant, the arena and came back west up to Rutledge’s. 

This next column about the Neepawa businesses will include Hamilton Street and some of the businesses out of the downtown area.
