Students from the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Agriculture were in Neepawa on Friday, Oct. 2, for their annual bed push fundraiser. They were raising funds for Cancer Care by pushing a bed from the Safeway parking lot to the Yellowhead Centre.

An inability to stay out of the penalty box, combined with an anemic effort on offence has proven to be a huge factor in the Neepawa Native’s recent losing streak. Heading into their next home game on Wednesday, Oct. 7, the MJHL club has lost four straight, by a combined goal differential of 24-to-3. As well, one-third of the goals that were surrendered by the Natives were given up while attempting to kill off penalties.
Election time politics

Wow, how politics seem to change before an election! Not only is this the only time when political ads seem to be as common as ads for automobiles, but there seems to be the feeling of smoke and mirrors. There are ads — and surprisingly more than one — that mention how nice the hairdo is of a political opponent. There are leader debates that concentrate on issues that would normally never get discussed at length, but these topics resonate with voters because of sentiment or a strong emotional tie. Another consideration is the importance to make the right choice in who you want for your member of Parliament and not base your vote strictly on who would be the best prime minister.
