We started a new year. 2018. What is our outlook of 2018? Maybe we are bringing some pressures and disappointments from last year with us into the new year. Some mourning for loved ones who so recently left us has joined us again now. But we are also facing new challenges and we are making plans for this year.

Female Midget Chiefs top Central Plains

Four goals in the first period helped power the Yellowhead Chiefs to a 6-2 win over the Central Plains Capitals in Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League action. Sadie Wood of Rivers scored a pair of goals and added two assists in the victory on Thursday, Jan. 4 at the Shoal Lake Communiplex.

The Neepawa Natives picked up a very important two points in the MJHL standings, in their first game of 2018, with a 5-3 win over Waywayseecappo on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Salvation Army optimistic about 2018

Neepawa and Area Salvation Army manager Amanda Naughton-Gale has a mountain of donations to sort through. Naughton-Gale and her staff at the Thrift Store are constantly restocking the shelves with donated housewares and clothing.

2017 could be defined as a significant year of change for the Neepawa and Area Salvation Army, but in a good way. Not only has the charitable organization’s thrift store successfully settled into its new location, within the former Co-op building on Mountain Avenue; but the group has also seen support for their ongoing programs continue to expand.
